Hey, hey! I’m Kevin Gray, a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Teller Elementary, though if you told my younger self that, I probably would’ve laughed and then asked if you meant I’d be teaching ninjas or astronauts. Growing up in New York, I was the kind of student who kept teachers on their toes, and let’s just say no one would have bet I’d end up on the other side of the classroom. My journey on this side has provided experience teaching across all grade-levels, from kindergarteners learning fish get sent to paradise by ways of the toilet-bowl to fifth-graders learning hot sauce isn’t a main course.
After earning my degree from University of Maryland (Go Terps!) and my Master of Arts in Teaching from Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland, I decided to trade the sea for the summit, moving to Denver in 2016. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to spend eight amazing years at Teller Elementary working and learning with some powerful educators.
These days, I’m all about Math, Science, and Social-Emotional Learning—because what’s better than solving a tricky math problem, conducting a cool science experiment, and helping kids understand their emotions all in one day? I’m a firm believer in the power of positivity, connection, and the boundless energy that kids bring to the classroom.
So, whether I’m helping students discover the magic of numbers, explore the wonders of the universe, or just figure out how to survive a school day without losing their lunchbox, I’m here to make learning fun and meaningful for every kid who walks through my door.
