Volunteer Opportunities

There’s a place for everyone at Teller.

One of the many strengths of Teller is parent involvement in our school. Parents are not simply needed at Teller, you are VITAL to our success.

The great thing about volunteering for Teller is that you can choose where to put your talents, treasure, and/or time to use, and you can choose how much you would like to give. Even if you are interested in a large event, you can choose to be a small part of it. EVERY BIT HELPS.

Please consider taking time for Teller now or in the coming year. You will meet other parents, be engaged, and make a HUGE difference in your child’s school. Volunteering builds community and IT. IS. FUN!

Some ways that you can become involved:

Please be sure to check in at the Main Office to sign in and pick up a visitor’s badge any time you are in the building helping our scholars so you can be identified as a volunteer with appropriate clearance. All visitors, including parents, must sign in and out when in the building for the safety of our scholars.

If you plan on volunteering please fill out an online volunteer application and background check. You will be notified when you have been approved. The school will then have a record as well.

Become a Tutor!

We’re looking for parents, grandparents, and community members to support our teachers in helping students reach grade level proficiency in literacy and math. This usually involves a commitment of about one hour a day, once a week, for the length of the school year. We acknowledge that this is a significant investment of your time, but we are convinced this will be a wonderfully rewarding experience for you as well!

Tutors will need to pass a background check and attend a (fun!) training. We’ll also have a follow-up celebration at the end of the school year. If you are unable to commit weekly, subs are also needed! For more information, contact volunteer@tellerpta.org.

Support a PTA Event!

The Teller PTA has many volunteer events every year. Whether you have an hour or two, or want to really jump in, there is something you can do. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the chair for that event or reach out to the Teller volunteer coordinator at volunteer@tellerpta.org to explore options.

Help a Family in Need!

The Teller Backpack Friends Program has been providing Teller students with a backpack full of nutritional food every Friday to those students who may otherwise go hungry over weekends and holidays. The food donations for this program come from the Food Bank of the Rockies, the Congress Park community, and Teller parent contributions. To volunteer for this program or to donate food or money to purchase food, visit https://backpackfriends.wordpress.com/ or the Teller Backpack Friends Facebook Page.
