Ms. Gras is a 4th generation Denver Native. She grew up in Congress Park, and is a proud product of DPS. She graduated from Denver East High School, and went to the University of Colorado to receive Bachelor Degrees in Sociology and English. She then attended Metropolitan State of Denver and obtained an endorsement in Elementary Education. Since she started teaching, she has also received an endorsement in Early Childhood Education.
Ms. Gras has worked for DPS for 14 years, and this will be her 11th year teaching Kindergarten at Teller! She loves giving back to the community that she grew up in. What she loves most about teaching Kindergarten is introducing the kids to all subjects. Using creativity everyday, in all areas of the classroom, is something Ms. Gras truly enjoys. She loves to see the children grow and learn, and appreciates having the opportunity to inspire them.
The Kindergartners put a smile on her face each and every day, one way or another. Best of all, she lets herself learn from them! Ms. Gras aspires to be a lifelong learner and hopes to share the love of learning with all the students she's lucky enough to have in my classroom.
Ms. Gras has one brother and one sister, and loves Denver because her family is here, the weather is fantastic, she loves the mountains, and the BRONCOS! For fun, she likes to walk her dog, travel, cook, watch football, spend time with family and friends, read and garden.
Her first baby, Makena Leilani, was born on Sept. 5th, 2015! She picked her name because it's Hawaiian (Ms. Gras' favorite place to visit) and it means "The Happy One" and "A Gift From Heaven."
Ms. Gras originally started the year off teaching Kindergarten at Teller, but since one of our ECE teachers made the decision to follow a lifelong dream, Ms. Gras agreed to make the transition to ECE teacher at Teller. We're extremely excited to have her step into her new role, and know that she's going to be a great fit!
