Hello Teller Community!
My name is Ms. Star, and this is my first year as a paraprofessional at Teller Elementary. Although I am not entirely new to Teller, some of you may recognize me from our after-school program, Discovery Link. Prior to working for Denver Public Schools, I was a preschool teacher at Clayton Early Learning for four years. I had the opportunity to work with children from a variety of backgrounds, including children with disabilities and special needs. I am passionate about working with children and hope to make a meaningful and positive impact on their futures.
I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and come from Mexican roots I’m very proud of. Both of my parents are from Zacatecas, Mexico. I have two children, Jaciel (10) and Luna (4), who also attend Teller. Jaciel plays flag football and baseball at Central Park Recreation Center, while Luna enjoys ballet at the Colorado Ballet Academy.
In the midst of my busy professional and home life, I enjoy the little things that help me stay grounded, such as meditating, walking, and bike riding in nature. I love slow mornings and my homemade coffee every day. Every now and then, I like to pop into a new coffee shop I’ve never tried before. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve visited at this point—clearly, I love coffee! Winter is my favorite season. I love going to Broncos games, sledding with my kids, snow tubing, and ice skating, just to name a few winter favorites.
Most importantly, I truly value spending quality time with my family. We often cook delicious meals together that bring everyone around the table and give us a chance to connect. Family is a very important part of my life, and I cherish the memories we create together.
