Tellerpalooza

Saturday, May 22, 2020 (Date TBC)
Doors open at 4:00 pm.  Show starts at 4:15.
What is Tellerpalooza?
Started in 2004 by music-loving Teller parents, the event has grown into this east Denver elementary school’s biggest fundraiser. In 2014, we returned to the iconic Bluebird Theater, located right in the Teller neighborhood! But this event is not your typical school fundraiser. Don’t expect kid music. Expect everything under the sun music. And while, yes, kids are welcome – Tellerpalooza shows what makes Teller special. A community that enjoys a great time, great music, and each other.

Early in the evening, the stage features the Teller DPS (Denver Public Schools) student band. Later, kids head home to babysitters; parents and local fans stay into the night. Downstairs, families are a bit more chill and play games together. Tellerpalooza is old-school with the ever-present bake sale – or if wine is more to your liking, participate in the “Wall of Wine” and you may bring home a large box of assorted favorites donated by Teller parents. Basically, come and plan to HAVE FUN.

Tellerpalooza serves as a vital funding lifeline for Teller Elementary, and it wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of Denver’s music community, members of which donate their time and talents for the event. Tellerpalooza lets us show off how much we cherish the arts and music at our school and in our community. We’re genuinely grateful to the musicians, to the Bluebird Theater, and to our event sponsors for supporting us when we really need it.

Last year, some 800 people attended Tellerpalooza, helping raise more than $25,000 to fund academic programs as well as faculty positions at Teller Elementary.

This year’s lineup includes Teller Beginning Band, Tiger Voices and Violins, Teller Advanced and Jazz Bands, and many local bands TBD.
The 2019 local band line-up included:
  • Retrofette
  • Meeting House
  • Last Call Romance
  • The Bailey Collective

Tellerpalooza WOW – Wall of Wine (WOW) & Wall of Candy (WOC)
What is WOW?  The Wall of Wine!  A fun raffle at the Tellerpalooza for a chance to win one of the many cases of wine!  WOW won’t happen without your help.  Please donate bottles of your favorite wine to make this the largest wine raffle in the history of Tellerpalooza.
Capitol Heights Pharmacy is proud to be a supporter of Teller Elementary.  They are offering a 10% discount for wine beer and liquor purchases.  Just mention Teller or Tellerpalooza when making your purchase, and they’ll even hang on to the donated bottles for you!  You may also drop donations on the front porch of the Baptiste’s home @ 1427 Garfield Street.  Please do not bring wine to Teller.
Making an appearance for the second year after a very strong debut last year, is the Wall of Candy (WOC)!  Kids and non-drinkers shouldn’t be left out of the fun!  It’s a wonderful way to load up the little ones (or adults) with excess sugar!  Raffle tickets will be on sale at the event.  Candy donations are NOT needed.

Bake Sale:

The bake sale needs donati0ns of single-serving items like cookies, cupcakes, lemon bars, chips, string cheese, soda, juice boxes, etc… Donations can be brought to the office or to the Bluebird the night of the event.

Other Fun Stuff:

  • Ice Cream from Sweet Cooie’s
  • Pizza from Fat Sully’s
  • Devil Dog Grill – Dogs and Burgers
  • Face Painting
  • Temporary Tattoos

Volunteers:

We need volunteers! A sign-up genius will be posted closer to the event.

All proceeds from this event go directly to supporting Teller Elementary.  If you have any questions about this year’s event, please contact Melissa Bechhoefer (melissaleestoltz@yahoo.com)
