Dear Teller Families,

As part of the library projects, this time we have partnered with the Children’s Hospital to help kids with cancer by collecting different items to help alleviate chemo side effects and make their stay at the hospital more pleasant.

This is a great opportunity to teach our students the magic of giving and caring by involving them in the collection process.

We’ll be collecting new travel-sized items by classroom in order to help as much as possible. We will combine these items into Chemo Care Kits for Kids.

The library will be accepting donations starting Monday, March 20th thru April 21st (except for during spring break) from 8 am to 3 pm. You may leave your donations in the library or in the office if students are testing in the library.

Grade level donation requests:

K.-          Lip balm

ECE.-     Travel size hand sanitizer

1st.-       Travel size body lotion

2nd.-      I-tunes gift cards

3rd.-       Note pads / pens

4th.-       Cozy socks

5th.-       Straws

GRADUATION Pictures – Thursday, March 23rd

Graduation Pictures are coming up for all ECE, Kindergarten and 5th graders! Order forms went home in Thursday Folders this week. If you’d like your student to take Graduation Pictures, please send a completed order form and payment with them to school next Thursday, March 23rd.

Tellerpalooza will be Saturday, May 27th! Tellerpalooza is Teller’s largest fundraiser each year at the Bluebird Theater with Teller Bands, awesome local bands, games, food, a bake sale, and a “wall of wine”. More event details coming soon!

Do you like live music, throwing big parties and being a part of the community? Then we want you for the Tellerpalooza planning committee. The event depends solely on the parents and the community to make it a success. We have lots of open spots on the committee so you’re sure to find something that suits your interests. Teller PTA Fundraising Committee Wants to Hear from You

All parents, caregivers, and staff are invited to take 5-7 minutes to provide some feedback on how we are doing this year in our Teller fundraising efforts. We’d love to find out more about what you like and don’t like and hear your suggestions for improvement for next year. The survey will be up through the March 24th. The Teller Backpack Friends need donations and volunteers!

The Teller Backpack Friends does a phenomenal job of supporting and providing necessary items to members of the Teller Family that are in need. They collect food items, toiletries and baby products to send home with families each week, to help ensure that our scholars and their families aren’t lacking over the weekend and breaks.

Some of the items that are consistently needed are: Dollar Store sizes of peanut butter, jelly and cereal. Safeway for dried milk. They always need smaller sizes and no glass – they put it all to good use; but these requirements work best for the children. Any fruit or fresh veggies are a real treat. We have 69 people in our program They’d like to say thank you for everything our community does! All donations should be dropped off at the Backpack Room, which is on the 2nd floor, just past the office, near the elevator.

Discovery Link Camp Announcements

It’s almost March and that means Spring Break is right around the corner! Laurel, our program specialist, will be running camp at Bromwell Elementary from March 27th – March 30th (no camp Friday March 31st). Register here!

Non-contact Day- April 3rd. The Monday after spring break is a teacher prep day, but there will be a Discovery Day available- with a field trip to the Denver Zoo!

Summer Camp! Registration packets are available on the Discovery Link website and registrations will be accepted starting March 1st. They can be handed in at the Discovery Link office in the cafeteria during program hours or to Gabby at the front desk.

Don’t forget to check out our first annual Summer Opportunities Fair on March 15th from 6-8pm to learn more about summer camp options for your child in the Denver Metro Area! Over 25 providers will be in attendance, so far!

About the Festival

Congress Park Neighbors Green Team presents a free Earth Day event on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1 pm to 5 pm. The event is FREE and open to the public, and will be held outdoors at Capitol Heights Faith Communities on 1100 Fillmore Street. This year’s theme is “Think Globally, Act Locally!”

The Earth Day Festival is an important part of our team’s efforts as part of the Denver Sustainable Neighborhood Network. At the festival, we’ll be showcasing the projects we’ve started and recruiting volunteers to expand their reach. This is a wonderful chance for neighbors to come out and meet each other, and learn what we can each do to make an impact in our neighborhood. The festival will feature art, music and hands-on activities at exhibitor booths.

Many thanks to our Summit Sponsor, Capitol Heights Faith Communities, for providing meeting space and venue space for the festival and Green Team.


Reminder: School Drop-Off Zone

Please drop students off on Jackson Street at the DOUBLE GATES TO THE PLAYGROUND.

Please observe the following directions to ensure a safe and secure drop off for all students:

  • Cars must be traveling south on Jackson St
  • Please avoid Garfield Street if at all possible (see map for drop off approach paths.)
  • Students  should be on the passenger side of the vehicle and be prepared to jump out quickly upon arrival.
  • Cars should stop only long enough to allow student(s) to safely exit the vehicle.
  • Parent/adult/driver MUST remain in the vehicle.
  • NO PARKING
  • Cars exiting drop off should continue to 10th before turning west to avoid other school traffic.DropOffMap-01
