Colorado has one of the fastest growing economies in the nation, however due to current school financing constraints creating a “negative factor” for budgeting, our school funding levels are 28th in the nation, meaning the state spends $2,000 less per student on average, compared with the rest of the country. In response to these factors, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has increased our 2018-2019 fundraising goal to $150,000 per year to supplement Teller’s deficit from Denver Public Schools.

Simply Giving is Teller’s largest and most effective fundraiser of the year. Simply Giving allows Teller to continue to provide a well-rounded education for all of our students and creates a stable revenue source for the school, making budgeting more predictable and additional grant proposals more attractive. Simply Giving is a direct and tax-deductible donation program in which parents, family, community members, and friends can contribute. You can donate any monthly amount or make a single donation at any time.

We are bolding asking that families dig deep to see what they can contribute. We know that not every family can contribute monetarily, so we just ask that you contribute as much as your families’ budget allows. Any level of contribution is appreciated, whether it’s $500 a month, $10 a month, or a one-time donation.

Your contribution helps Teller helps keep gym, art, drama, library, and additional paraprofessional support, GT/HGT and Special Education/ESL programs, and amazingly talented and experienced teachers. PTA funds also support numerous activities including, but not limited to: classroom grants and supplies, student assistance, enrichment scholarships, community events, teacher appreciation week, a lunch debt fund, and PTA fees and general expenses.

For the 2018-2019 School Year, the PTA funds will support 7 key school programs and costs. Without covering these costs, the Teller administration would either need to cut either 2 full time-teachers, 5 para-professionals, and/or some or all of the additional programs/costs below.

  • “Math In Focus” math curriculum for every grade
  • “Second Step” social-emotional curriculum for every grade
  • “Tools of the Mind” kindergarten curriculum
  • “Reading Intervention” 4th and 5th grade curriculum
  • Band Instrument repairs
  • Promethean Boards maintenance and replacements
  • Copies: $12000 per year, not including paper
