2016-2017 CHOICE Round 1 – Opens January 5th

DPS_DepartmentLogo_ChoiceAndEnrollment

CHOICE Round 1 opens January 5th, and closes on January 31st. Applications for ALL grades will be available at all DPS schools and online starting at 8am on January 5th.

Are you unsure if you need to fill out a CHOICE Application for your student? See below, or email Gabby at gabrielle_herndon@dpsk12.org.

Who needs to complete a CHOICE Application:

  • All students entering ECE
  • All students entering Kindergarten (if you’re a current ECE family, this doesn’t mean you’re ‘reapplying’; we just need to have the application/paperwork on file – you will have a spot with us for Kinder!)
  • All 5th graders transitioning to MIDDLE SCHOOL!
  • All families new to DPS
  • Anyone that would like to transition to a new school for the 2017-2018 school year

It’s important to remember – if you “Choice Out” of your neighborhood school, you will lose your Neighborhood School priority! The school you are assigned through the Choice process becomes your new ‘Neighborhood School’ (see Gabby with questions).

If your student is new to DPS, you will need to complete a PreEnrollment form to receive a Student ID# (required for Choice Applications) – Access Pre-Enrollment Forms Here

Enrichment Session 2 – Catalogs available NOW!

LETTING OUR OLD THING’S HAVE A NEW MEANING

IN SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE…

Dear parents,

This winter season, The Gathering Place, who serves women and children who are experiencing poverty or homelessness is in need of our help.

As a library project, we would like to help by collecting children’s winter clothing – jackets, sweaters, pants, boots, and mittens, as a great opportunity to teach our students the magic of giving by involving them in the process of cleaning out closets and choosing clothing in good shape to donate at the library, letting our old things have a new meaning in someone else’s life.

We’ll be collecting new socks and underwear, as well as diapers, baby food and baby wipes by classroom in order to help as much as possible.

The library will be accepting donations from Monday, December 12th thru January 27th (except during winter break) from 8 am through 3 pm. You may leave your donations at the library.

Grade level donation requests:

ECE/Kindergarten – Baby Food

1st Grade –   Baby shampoo / bath wash

2nd Grade –   Diapers (sizes 4,5,6 and pull-ups)

3rd Grade –    Baby wipes

4th Grade –    New toddler socks

5th Grade –    New toddler underwear

For more information, you can send an email to:  vanessa_renner@dpsk12.org

Thank you in advance,

Vanessa Renner – Teller Library

Wanna make a difference in the world right here at your school?

Teller scholars are in need of reading tutors to make sure all students are reading at their grade level!

Research shows that if a child isn’t reading by third grade it takes 90 minutes a day of exposure to catch up.

Let’s not let our scholars fall behind. You can make a difference!

If you are interested, and have some time to give during school hours, then we would love to have you!

There will be a brief informational meeting followed by a training session on Thursday January 5th at 4 pm in the Teller library.

If you can make the meeting please RSVP to Libi Toroslu  libitoroslu@gmail.com or text 303-847-2062

If you want to help but can’t make the meeting please still inquire at the above address, and additional sessions will be made accordingly.

Anyone is welcome, parents, grandparents, and friends!
