Annual Events

You are an important part of the Teller community and we wanted to make sure you were aware of all your options to participate and contribute in our Teller community this year. Below is a rough outline of fundraising programs and events for Teller parents, grandparents, and guardians to assist you in planning your school year. You always have a choice in how you want to participate including how you donate your money, time, and energy.

 

Featured Fundraising Events

Teller Annual Auction

“Teller Night Live (TNL)”
Saturday, November 10th – 7:00pm-11:00pm
Soiled Dove Underground (Tavern Lowery)
Get a babysitter and join other parents for this super fun themed event with live and silent auction. Your ticket includes tasty food, a live band, a welcome drink, and a fun live auction which you can join in on the bidding wars for great items. Participants must be 21+ and there is a cash bar. Auction items are donated by local business and parents. In past years, auction items have included tickets to sporting events, certificates to local restaurants, spa packages, weekend getaways. We love our teachers and staff, so they get a free ticket when they offer a “Tiger Treats”, which is a fun outing or activity with the teacher (or a group of teachers) and only a few students. Classroom Gift Baskets are also a highlight with baskets full of goodies and student made artistic gems! Tickets available October 1st. More information available at www.TellerNightLive.com.

 

Fun Run – February

The Teller Fun Run is back this year. Our fun run will be available to all students who wish to participate. The Boosterthon program brings in coaches to teach leadership and fitness all while raising pledges to help our school. During the Fun Run, students are challenged to get pledges for the laps they will run. Students run for about 30 minutes and sponsors can pledge per lap. All students will receive prizes and team awards!

Mighty Nest – You can purchase a subscription to receive a monthly item from the MightyFix (it’s only $10/month!), or you can shop from a ton of different sustainable, reusable, family-friendly supplies. You can help to protect our environment with reusable water bottles, lunch boxes, sandwich bags and more, while also raising funds for Teller! MightyNest will donate 15% of your purchase to our school! Support Teller and Buy Sustainable School Supplies!

Tellerpalooza – May

A rock-concert fundraiser started in 2004 by music-loving Teller parents, the event has grown into the school signature FUNdraiser. The all ages, family-friendly event is held at the iconic Bluebird Theater – right in the Teller neighborhood. Tellerpalooza shows what makes our school special. The event typically features five local bands, with exclusive performances from the Tiger Voices, Teller Band and Violins. Friends and family spill onto the street to grab a bit from the food truck or to get some fresh air and color the sidewalks with chalk. In addition to enjoying the local bands, concert goers enjoy the bake sale, hair braiding/chalking, face paint and try their luck at the wall of wine.

Teller Spirit Days – Every Friday!

Every Friday will be Spirit Day at Teller Elementary School. We encourage our student to show their school spirit by wearing our school colors (blue and yellow), or sport their Teller wear. If you haven’t had the opportunity to purchase Teller Wear, please visit the Teller Wear Page to place your orders.

 

School Supplies by the PTA – August

School Supplies by the PTA eliminates the headache of school supply shopping by providing the items required for your student. Our amazing volunteers are able to use the large quantity purchasing power to get school supplies you need at a price that rivals even the large discount stores! No more shopping around for the best prices or standing in long lines wondering if you have everything you need plus a portion of each purchase goes to the PTA and the “Specials” teachers. Each package contains everything that is required for your classroom for a single price.  Supply packages can be purchased before and during registration and will be delivered directly to your student’s classroom prior to the first day of school. Checks can be made out to Teller PTA and debt/credit cards and ACH withdrawals are also accepted via the Teller PTA School Supplies Link (link only available before registration through the Friday following registration). For those who don’t purchase a package the School Supply List 2018-2019 is available and you can purchase these items on your own.

 

Teller Garden Farmer’s Market – September & October

Teller students are gearing up to run their own Farmer’s Market! Feed your family locally and support Teller by buying our local organic vegetables while teaching our students something about running their own business. Your purchase will go directly back to the Teller garden and also fund a cause chosen by the students. More details coming soon!

Dress up and play games together as a community. Free Entry!!

Tickets will increase to $.50 per ticket at the event!
Tickets will be delivered to your student’s classroom if purchased by Wed 10/25.
After then, tickets will be available for pick up at check in.

 

Jump Rope for the Heart – January

Support our Physical Education team in this health focused challenge. Your kids raise money based on how much they jump. Learn more at Jump Rope For Heart Event.

 

Spring Dance – April

Students enjoy a night out with a fun theme. Always a blast!

 

Other Student Sponsored Events – Students also organize events and fundraisers they care about and run the whole event throughout the year either for the whole school, by grade, or in their classrooms.

Restaurant Nights/Happy HoursThroughout the year, many local businesses and restaurants sponsor Teller as a receipted of a predetermined percentage of sales. These Shop Back/Restaurant Nights are a fun way to support Teller and the local community. Events will be posted on the community calendar and included in the Teller ROAR newsletter. If you are interested in hosting an event please email fundraising@tellerpta.org.

 

Community/Progressive Dinners/Events – Parents host the dinner/event and other parents and guests buy-a-share/seat with the $ donated back to Teller.

 

Scholastic Book Drives/Book Fairs – Ordering from Scholastic Book Clubs supports both your child and the school. Not only are you helping to create a reading habit that will benefit your child throughout life, but you’re also helping your child’s teacher earn free books and bonus points that can be redeemed for educational materials, supplies, and more!

 

Dad’s Club – Dads hang out with each other (and sometimes the kids) doing fun activities like poker, biking, bowling, & other events. Each Dad donates to play and gives a portion back to teller.

 

Teller Wear – Order your gear and show your school spirit! Teller t-shirts, sweatshirts, baseball hats, folders, etc. are available. More details coming soon on the Teller Wear Page.

Box Tops for Education – Collect those Box Tops! Each Box Top is worth 10¢ for Teller. Contests happen throughout the year between classrooms with great prizes, like a pajama party or a popcorn/movie party AND the winning teacher will receive a gift card. We are hoping to double our Box Tops collection this year! Our goal is to earn $2,000 for our school, which is 20,000 Box Tops! Get grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, etc. to contribute! Please send them in clipped appropriately and make sure the date is showing.
