Destination Imagination (DI)
Teller is proud to participate and excel in the DI program. DI is a national problem-based competition. Teams of seven students develop a skit and build a set to demonstrate a solution to a given complex problem. Teller sponsors four teams each year. Participating students and a very dedicated teacher spend between four and five months preparing for competition. DI builds teamwork, creativity and group and individual problem solving skills. In 2003, one of Teller's DI teams proudly competed at the Global DI competition after placing in the Regional and State competitions.

Each team meets once a week after school between 3:45 and 5:15PM until the competition. Interested students MUST commit to being at every meeting and at the competition which lasts all day followed by an evening awards assembly. Parents are asked to provide snacks for their own child. In addition, parent help is needed with meetings, at the competition and driving students to the competition.

Kaleidoscope Corner/Denver Parks and Recreation
Because of the increase in the need for childcare between 7:30AM and 6:00PM, the Kaleidoscope Corner program was developed for DPS schools. Teller has gone one step further by creating an unique partnership between Kaleidoscope Corner and Denver Parks and Recreation providing additional instruction and activities including rollerskating, ski trips, and attending local sports events.

Vocal and Instrumental Music
Teller is proud to offer vocal and instrumental music lessons to students. This enhanced music program is typically not available to elementary school students and is cherished by the participants and their families. Before school vocal music lessons are held once each week. Before school music instruction for strings and band instruments are held twice each week. All music lessons are supervised by Teller's dedicated music instructor, Nico Baker, and cost $20 per year.

Wednesday Night Study Hall
Wednesday Night Study Hall is a partnership program between DPS and volunteers who provide academic and social tutoring for Teller students. Children in need of academic and/or social reinforcement are recommended for the program by their classroom teachers. If parents agree to have their child participate, a tutor is assigned who will work with the student one night each week during the school year. This individual attention, recognition and assistance helps to overcome academic frustration, create a positive self-image and develop the confidence needed for success in school and in life. Teller currently has over 50 volunteers from the community.
