Teller is getting ready to put the Fun back in Fundraiser for the fifth straight year: Tellerpalooza V is set for Saturday, May 10 at The Mercury Café, 2199 California St. in Denver. And this year Morey Middle School is teaming up with Teller to make this event bigger than ever!
4:00 PM - A performance by both Teller’s and Morey’s
own student bands, followed by the Denver School of the Arts Jazz
Combo, which features several Teller alumni. 6:00 PM - The Panic—Back for the third year in a row, this band of high school students cranks out a high-energy mix of fun rock and roll. 7:15 PM - The Dead Sinatras—The Sinatras'
repertoire includes songs by the Turtles, Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison and
other 60's pop icons. Of course, the song they love best to perform is
Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walkin.'" 8:30 PM - The Autumn Film—Arty,
cool and interesting, The Denver Post says that Autumn Film often
invites comparisons to the music of Fiona Apple—but much better! 9:45 PM - Angie Stevens & The Beautiful Wreck—When Angie Stevens was named Westword’s Best Singer/Songwriter of Denver in 2006, the paper had this to say about her: “Backed by a stellar cast of musicians, Stevens engages audiences in a way that makes every performance feel intimate, like she's playing her songs just for you.” 11:00 PM - The Reals—A
Tellerpalooza staple, The Reals blend sweet harmonies and gorgeous
alt-country melodies into a compelling and irresistible sound. There’s a distinct theme shaping up for Tellerpalooza V: Women. Autumn Film features two women, including the lead singer; The Panic has Livvie Rudeen; and there’s Cheyenne Kowal of The Reals and, of course, Angie Stevens & The Beautiful Wreck.
Karaoke will also be featured downstairs all night long, as well as a special menu by The Mercury Café kitchen, drawings for the “wall of wine” and many other special prizes.
