Teller is a High Achieving School as Ranked by the State of Colorado's CSAP Assessments

Every public school in Colorado receives a School Accountability Report from the state each year.  We are extremely pleased to report that for the 2005/2006 School Year, Teller Elementary scored a .56, well above the .47 threshold for a HIGH performing school as determined by the state standards.

This achievement is the result of the hard work of our teachers, children, parents, and staff led by our top notch principal, Karti Lyons.  Our teachers have extreme dedication that is only partially reflected in this honor.  Several other factors have contributed to our success:
  • A solid and growing base of very involved parents from our local Congress Park Neighborhood.
  • A primary goal to apply resources to keep class sizes small.
  • A dedicated teaching staff that has a very low turn-over rate.
  • A proven and recognized approach for teaching all students.


**NOTE**
The Denver Public Schools(DPS)  misreported a critical statistic to the state that will result in our school being reported in the state's publications and website as an average school.  DPS has acknowledged this reporting error and notified the Colorado State Board of Education.  To date, the Colorado State Board of Eduction and its administrators have refused to update their data to correct this mistake.
 
DPS has further acknowledged that - properly calculated - Teller is a High-Achieving school.  The State Board of Education does not refute these facts.   However, unless and until the State agrees to update their data, the State's publications will not reflect our achievements.

Therefore, please be aware of this mistake and make sure to correct anyone who may not be aware of this most unfortunate error.  DO NOT POINT ANYONE TO THE STATES WEBSITE (http://reportcard.cde.state.co.us/reportcard/CommandHandler.jsp).  Instead, point people to the CSAP report summaries stored at:
