JANUARY 2008 Tellergram
From the Principal….. Happy New Year! I am amazed at how quickly time passes! Back from the holidays, we at Teller have hit the ground running, readying ourselves for what promises to be an exciting 2nd semester. I look forward to the academic and social growth our students will make this second half of the year.
The teachers and I are reviewing student’s progress data in order to adjust or add additional supports to insure adequate academic progress by all of our students. Our 3rd , 4th and 5th grade parents will have their child’s mid-year Benchmark assessment report sent home in the Thursday Folder this week.
I am pleased to highlight some of our successes and upcoming events: • Our ECE program under the management our awesome ECE teacher, Becky Rosas, received a Qualstar Rating of “Three Stars”. With this rating, most parents will see a reduction in the cost of their ECE tuition cost. (Watch for more information on this to come home.) CONGRATULATIONS TO BECKY ROSAS AND HER PARA MONICA SAWYER. • Our enrollment grew and has remained stable all year. • The staff and parents are approaching the task of selecting a new principal for Teller with high energy and a positive and collaborative spirit.
• Registration for Lights on After School activities will be on Tuesday, January 22nd from 4:30 to 5:30. (After you have registered stay for the Super Science Night described in the next bullet. • You are invited to a SUPER SCIENCE Night on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science will have a sampler of wondrous exhibits, as well as very alive bugs and chemistry experiments. Pizza and beverages for all! • Look for more details on a Service Learning Pilot program for participating teachers and their students to be implemented for 6 weeks in the Spring. • Two PTA Open Houses for prospective students and their parents are scheduled as follows: Wednesday, January 16th, 8:30-10:00am Wednesday, January 23rd, 6:30-8:00 pm • Monday, January 22nd, NO SCHOOL – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. HOLIDAY

Thanks to the Lights on After School (LOAS)Grant, the Puppet Making Workshop was a great success! The Grand Finale was a fun and creative puppet show staring puppets the students created themselves.

Please Let Us Recycle Your Old Ink Cartridges!!!!
Old ink cartridges help us raise money for the office. Recently, we were able to purchase a hands-free headset for our head secretary, Denise.
Help Misty enjoy a hands-free headset too! Turn in your old ink cartridges in front of the library!
Hands-free means even more multi-tasking! It has been so helpful for Denise to have the headset, we would like to get one for Misty, too! This means we need to collect as many old ink cartridges to recycle as we can!
You can place your ink cartridges in the recycle box just outside the library. Thank you for your support!!
Teller T-shirts --Ten Dollars If you would like to sport a Teller t-shirt and show your Teller pride, all adult sizes are still available (S,M,L,XL and XXL). Youth larges are also available. Please purchase these fabulous t-shirts in room 203 or contact Mrs. VonTersch. All t-shirts are white short-sleeved with the following printed logo on the front in royal blue.
