Teller PTA News November 2006

Colfax Art Walk

The Teller Art Show is just around the corner. It will take place on Friday, November 17th, from 5:00-8:00 pm at various venues along Colfax, between Milwaukee and Cook Streets, with the reception to be held at 6:00 at Babooshkas, located at 3225 E. Colfax.
Marla Tomberg, our Teller art teacher, has planned an amazing show based on the art of Faith Ringold, an African American artist. Art from ECE-5th grade will be on display in various businesses.
We need help to promote this event, to staff this event. We also need help with setting-up and taking down the art. If you are interested in volunteering and have not already signed up, please contact Anna Jones at 303-321-6135 or303-628-5558.

Halloween Carnival Kudos:

A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO ALL THE STAFF, PARENTS, & STUDENTS (ESP. 5TH GRADERS) WHO MADE THIS YEAR'S HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL A SUCCESS! PARTICULARLY TO KAROLYN TREGEMBO, ROXANNE TROXLER & SHANNON SNYDER FOR ALL THEIR PLANNING; RUSS YAWGER & JON HINDLEMANN FOR THEIR HARD WORK ON THE HAUNTED HOUSE; & MRS. ESQUIBEL & MS. MANIATIS FOR TICKET SELLING! WE HAD AN AMAZING TURNOUT, EVEN IN THE FREEZING WEATHER. PEOPLE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THE SCARY AND SPECTACULAR HAUNTED HOUSE. GOOD JOB!!

POINSETTIAS
Ms. Bonefoi, Teller's fabulous librarian, is once again selling poinsettias to benefit the school library. We would like to add more than 1000 new books to our library this year, and you can help. Poinsettias are available in three sizes: 4.5" ($5.50), 6.5" ($12), & 8" ($25) and three colors (red, white and pink). They are high quality, beautiful plants. Please support your child's library by buying one (or more) and don't be afraid to ask your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to buy some too!! ORDERS DUE BY NOVEMBER 14TH!!

WE WILL MISS YOU DAVE BRICKER!

Teller lost a great man last month with the untimely death of Dave Bricker (Ethan Howe's Grandpa). He was an important part of the Teller Community, as he was always helping out at the school, and at events. Dave was funny and kind and he will be greatly missed. Donations may be made to Teller PTA in his honor for a climbing wall in the gym.

RIF: THIS YEAR RIF (READING IS FUNDAMENTAL) WILL BE HELD ALL DAY ON TUESDAY 11/14. YOUR CHILD WILL GET TO CHOOSE ONE FREE BOOK TO BRING HOME WITH HIM/HER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING FOR THIS EVENT, PLEASE CALL Sarah Kinzer AT 303.333.3169.

BARBARA FROULA ARTWORK
The PTA has partnered with local artist Barbara Froula to sell her cards and posters. Check your Thursday folders for an order form, or pick one up in the office. We will be ordering soon, so be sure to not miss your chance!

GROCERY CERTIFICATES
Grocery certificates will be available for sale outside of the school every Friday at drop-off and pick-up. Please look for Liesl Worrell and her orange sign if you are interested in purchasing them. They will also be available for purchase in the office. This is an easy way to make money for Teller since everyone needs groceries. Get your certificates before your next shopping trip!
