  1. Reports

    1. Principal

      1. Teller is busy. Most fall assessments have been completed so the school is in full instruction mode.

      2. Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up. Parents will meet with their child’s homeroom teacher. The teachers will do everything possible to meet parent requests to meet with other teachers. Grades 1-5 are invited to attend conferences to set goals.

    2. SLM

      1. Discussion during the SLT meeting included:

        1. Activities for profession days.

        2. The inside procedure for K-2 will now include dance in the music room.

        3. Substitute contingency plans include splitting classes when a substitute cannot be found.

        4. Editing the School Improvement Plan (SIP).

        5. Professional Development focus this year will be technology, math and literacy interventions, Response to Intervention (RtI) and Highly Gifted and Talented (HGT).

        6. How to help the parent group raise money. Ideas included Go Bowling with a Teacher, and a Teacher Dinner or Movie night.

    1. Parents

      1. Haunted House build times will be Friday, October 16, 1:00-9:00, Saturday, October 17, 7:00-noon, Sunday, October 18, 10:00-1:00. Take down will be Saturday, October 24.

      2. At a meeting with Governor Ritter, he suggested he wants to get rid of the CSAP and use teacher input to make a better assessment.

      3. Freiker is run like a frequent flyer program. It rewards students who find alternate modes of transportation other than being driven to school, such as, walking, biking or taking the bus. This program could improve the safety of the routes to Teller. The program uses a Freikometer to track the students’ miles which is then posted on a website. The next step is finding funding. There may be funding available through the Safe Route to School program. Success rates of similar programs have been astounding. Pam Paulien is going to check with the parents in charge of the Bike/Walk to School Program.

    1. Teachers

      1. The first book exchange will be taking place at Teller. Students will bring books in to exchange with others. Students will leave with one book more than s/he brought in, the maximum being 5 books brought in, 6 taken home.

    1. Other

      1. No report.

  1. Old Business

    1. Jen has not heard anything from the district on Teller’s choice election plan.

  1. New Business

    1. The group spent time looking at school data – School Performance Framework, 2009 CSAP and Fall Benchmark Results. The group broke into three groups and spent 30 minutes looking at data. Each group filled out an organizer including noticings and possible next steps. Jen collected the organizers so the data can be included in the SIP.

    2. Next meeting will include a presentation by Cathey Bonnefoi on Linda Mood Bell and other intervention programs at Teller. Next meeting is Tuesday, November 10.

CSAP

Noticings Next Steps

READING:

“No Score” on 5th grade reading

Make sure that doesn’t happen again.

MATH:

Unsatisfactory increased in grade 5 math

50% of 5th grade not passing, what happened?

Make sure they get through the curriculum, checking in at all grade levels.

Why is our writing so much weaker than reading and math? Too many kids in partial

Move 10%

SCIENCE:

Making sure the science program being taught in each grade. Some kind of PD on science-like we have in reading 5 Learning Points.

Students need to know to use graphic organizers → students could create graphic organizers in technology

Teach how to fill in graphic organizers. Incorporate technology into how kids make a web.

Data Analyzed: Benchmarks

Noticings Next Steps

Haven’t seemed to lose a lot over the summer

2nd,3rd, and 4th – ½ are proficient or more but 5th grade is way behind in math only (-)

Why (?) Investigate new concepts

There is a drop between grade transitions

Ho to do a better job of maintaining over all?

Don’t pick the lowest

Try to do general over all maintenance.

Focus on partially proficient to move them up
