Next PTA Meeting Your PTA Executive CommitteeThank you to the volunteer Executive Committee for the 2009-2010 school year! This year’s officers (pictured below from left to right) are Brian Koenigberg, President; Leslie Henson, Vice President; Nancy Walsh, Secretary; and Patty Hakala, Treasurer. If you ever have any questions about what the PTA is up to, please don’t hesitate to seek us out.What’s New?The PTA is trying some new techniques this year to help increase both financial support for the school and parent and teacher involvement in our many programs. To this end, three committees are being formed to oversee all of the many programs and events that the PTA sponsors: Fundraising, Social, and Outreach. These committees are intended to have representation from volunteers and organizers of our many special events or fundraising opportunities.If you are interested in joining any of these new committees or if you would like to volunteer for an upcoming event, please contact any member of the PTA Executive Committee and they will put you in touch with the appropriate person. The PTA is also very excited about the introduction of our new automated giving program: Simply Giving. While some students enjoy selling wrapping paper, sweets, and plants—many fundraising events that have benefited Teller—these events require a disproportionate amount of management for the funds they generate. The alternative? Teller’s newly established Simply Giving program which allows parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers and friends to conveniently contribute to the PTA with pre-authorized monthly withdrawals from your debit or credit card. Enrollment forms are available in the school office or online (teller.dpsk12.org/SimplyGiving). Fundraising CommitteeIf you have creative ideas about raising funds and want to be involved with a really important effort please join the newly formed Fundraising Committee. This committee will oversee ALL of the fundraising efforts the PTA takes on from year-to-year. This includes identifying which types of fundraisers are most beneficial to and most important to the school. We are looking for real estate professionals, auction whizzes, corporate giving gurus, grandparents, community outreachers and anybody who wants to lend a hand.Please send a message to the PTA Board from our Contact Us page if you are interested. Grocery CertificatesPlease continue to buy Grocery Certificates! Don’t forget, that we are able to purchase these certificates for 95% of their value and then sell them to you at face value which helps raise a lot of money for Teller. We now currently sell grocery certificates for Safeway, King Soopers, Sunflower Market, and Tony’s Market. If you haven’t heard of Tony’s Market it is like Whole Foods but more intimate. Don’t forget you can also buy gas with the grocery certificates at King Soopers and Safeway store stations. Certificates are available every day in the office or you can find Jill outside before and after school on Fridays.Please goto our 'Contact Us' page and send a message to Grocery Certificates for more information. ABC FundraiserA very special thank you goes out to Joanne Reilly for organizing this fundraiser for Teller. This event is a lot of fun for the kids and has always been a big fundraiser for us. Unfortunately this is Joanne’s last year at Teller so we will be looking for another one or two parents who would like to make sure that this fundraiser continues to be a success for years to come.Please send a message to the PTA Board from our Contact Us page if you are interested. Silent AuctionFor those of you who attended our wildly fun 2nd Annual Wine Tasting in the Spring you will remember the small Silent Auction which was also running that night. It was the first time for the silent auction and it was a big success. We’re going to do it again this year, and we hope it is even bigger and even more successful! Planning is starting now and we hope to have a newly formed committee in place soon to direct volunteers on how to get items donated.While last year’s event relied on only a few people to gather donations we hope to turn this in to a school-wide program with prizes to the classes and grades whose families acquire the most donations. Business SponsorshipOnce again business sponsorship opportunities are being made available to neighborhood businesses and Teller parent-owned businesses.
